Buying with confidence

WordPress plugin vs setup service: what are you actually buying?

The short answer

A download gives you software to install. A setup service gives you an agreed installation outcome. Compare the scope and update terms before comparing price.

A plugin and a setup service can mention the same WordPress tools while delivering different things. One may give you an archive to install across several sites. The other may cover installation and configuration on one website. Comparing only the headline price misses the work, access, and responsibilities that follow the purchase.

What a plugin download covers

With a downloadable product, you receive the software according to the listing’s delivery and access terms. Unless installation is explicitly included, you are responsible for installing it, checking compatibility, configuring it, and verifying the result. You also need administrator access and a hosting plan that allows the plugin.

Website coverage, support, and update access are separate questions. Unlimited website use does not automatically include installation on those sites. A one-time payment does not automatically mean developer support, cloud features, template access, or an automatic update feed. Ask about each entitlement you rely on.

A self-installed download can suit freelancers or developers who already maintain their sites. It is less useful if you have no one to manage backups, updates, and problems afterward. Include that work in your decision, even when the purchase price is small.

What a setup service covers

A setup service is an agreement about work performed on a website. The scope should identify the tools, number of sites, installation tasks, configuration, and handover. It should also make exclusions clear: installing a premium stack is not automatically a full website redesign, content-writing project, hosting migration, or ongoing maintenance plan.

Before ordering, describe your current website and desired outcome. Confirm whether existing settings will be preserved, whether a staging copy is needed, and what access the provider requires. Agree on what “finished” means: for example, the named tools are installed and configured, the relevant pages work, and you know how future updates are handled.

Provide access through an agreed secure channel, not an unsolicited email containing your usual password. Where practical, use a separate named administrator account and remove unneeded access after handover. Confirm who retains credentials and what continuing access is necessary for the agreed service.

How the current WPPlugin offers differ

The Astra Pro lifetime-access listing is for Astra Pro alone, with unlimited website coverage, manual installation, and manual updates. It is not the same product as a full premium bundle. Check its product page for current availability before planning a purchase; a listed download without a ready file cannot be purchased.

Premium Setup is a service for one website. Its listing includes installation and configuration of the named premium Astra tools with lifetime automatic updates. Check that page for the current included-tools list, delivery details, and price. Do not apply its one-site or automatic-update terms to the separate Astra Pro download.

The right choice depends on who will do the work. For several client sites with an established maintenance process, the self-installed option may fit. For one site whose owner needs installation help, the service may fit. If the scope does not match your project, ask before buying instead of assuming additional work is included.

Questions to ask before payment

Use the same questions for any WordPress supplier. Save the answers with your order so the installation and handover can be checked against the actual agreement.

  • What exact software or installation work is included, and what is excluded?
  • How many websites are covered, including any staging or client sites?
  • Who supplies and installs updates, and what does “lifetime” cover in this offer?
  • Which support channel handles installation problems and later compatibility issues?
  • Are vendor license keys, hosted features, or direct developer support included? Do not assume.
  • What access, backups, and approvals are needed before work begins?
  • What are the delivery, refund, and handover terms?

Installation finished does not mean maintenance finished

Automatic updates can reduce repetitive installation work, but WordPress still needs current backups and a person who checks failures. Hosting issues, incompatible changes, and expired access to other tools can affect a site after a successful handover. Ask who monitors the website and who responds when something breaks.

Keep a simple inventory of installed tools, their update sources, website limits, and responsible contacts. Review it when you add a site or change a supplier. The goal is not to buy the biggest bundle: it is to know what you have, how it stays current, and who takes the next step.
